Global Economic Crisis

If the global economic crisis has got you confused… then join the club!

It wasn’t but a few short months ago that governments were telling us to control our spending… that we had to save more… and that was one of the main reasons why the economy was going doing the gurgler!!!

At the time I found that slightly amusing… basically because my spending wasn’t excessive, and I certainly didn’t have anything let over to actually save.

But apparently, because of YOUR excesses and MY excesses, home interest rates went through the roof… petrol prices hit record highs.. and people were looking at how on earth they could possibly find the extra money they now needed just to stay alive…

The only solution we could see was to STOP spending, but apparently that’s not too good for the economy…

Now this is probably why I’ve never really understood economics… but with the global economic crisis now well and truly with us, it seems the only solution is to actually SPEND! And spend up BIG time!

Governments around the world are now spending extraordinary amounts of money in an effort to slow down the effects of this recession.

In Australia, billions of dollars has just been given away to families in the hope that they will spend up big for Christmas, and help boost our economy…

Billions of dollars are also about to be spent on huge capital improvement programs like road building, and health and education.

Interest rates have plummeted… and petrol is the cheapest it’s been for ages…

WTF? Can anyone please explain what happened here?

No wonder I failed Economics, because all of this is just far too confusing for me!!!
